Nacho Álvarez is the Secretary of State for Social Rights of the Government of Spain. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University Complutense of Madrid and he is a Civil Servant in the Corps of Secondary Education Teachers of the Community of Madrid, specialising in Economics. He is an Associate Professor at the Autonomous University of Madrid (Department of Economic Structure), and a Research Associate at the Complutense Institute of International Studies (ICEI). He was also an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Economics at the University of Valladolid (2012-2015), and an advisor at the National Institute for Educational Evaluation. He has studied in the United States (North Carolina) and in France (Paris VII University), and is the author of more than thirty books and research articles.
