Since 1 October 2020 Prof. dr. Petra De Sutter is Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Administration, Public Enterprises, Telecommunication and Postal Services in Belgium. After a long career as a well-known gynaecologist and fertility expert she entered the Belgian Senate and the Council of Europe in 2014.

In 2019, she became Member of the European Parliament and Chair of the Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection. De Sutter’s political career is marked by her work on human rights, health and environmental issues.
