Philippe Lamberts

Philippe LAMBERTS was born in Brussels (Belgium) in 1963. He holds a degree in Applied Mathematics from the Université Catholique de Louvain. From 1987 to 2009, he held various commercial and managerial positions at IBM. In June 2009, he was elected to the European Parliament for a first term, during which he devoted much of his time to the reform of banking and financial regulation. In 2014, he was re-elected as an MEP and a month later was appointed Co-President of the Greens/EFA Group. After five years of working to strengthen the position of the Greens inside and outside the European institutions, he was re-elected as leader of the Greens/EFA after the European elections in May 2019. In his third and final term as an MEP, he is determined to put the Greens at the centre of the European political stage and is leading the fight for an ambitious Green Deal, resolute in the policies and tools needed to tackle the global polycrisis.
