Sara Matthieu has been a Member of the European Parliament since 2020 and has been a feminist with a heart for the environment for much longer.

Sara is convinced that Europe is primarily there to help people progress . That is why she wants to give Europe a social face as a coordinator in the Committee on Work and Social Affairs. Protection of workers, minimum wages in the EU and eliminating the gender pay gap are a daily struggle.  

Sara also wants products in Europe to last longer and be repairable , and at an affordable price. The enormous amounts of waste that we all create and that pollute the environment worry her, which is why she is fully committed to a circular economy. In this way, today's waste becomes tomorrow's raw material.

As a proud Ghent resident, Sara is also a municipal councilor and wants to share her experiences with the people of Ghent in Europe. From the Mobility Committee, she makes Ghent an even nicer and more liveable city.
